Your Guide to CBD Cartridges and Pens

Vaporizers or β€œvapes” are made up of two components: the battery and the cartridge. The cartridge, often referred to as a CBD oil cartridge, contains highly concentrated CBD oil and a heater core, powered by the battery. The core vaporizes the CBD oil, which, when inhaled, is absorbed into the bloodstream through your lungs. You’ll feel the effects almost instantly.

Remember that cannabidiol (CBD) is not a psychoactive substance. That means you won’t experience any β€œhigh” with these CBD vape pen cartridges like you would with delta-9 THC carts: the effects are exclusively physical. If you’re new, try taking a slow and short pull, waiting around 15 minutes, and seeing how you feel.

Types of CBD Oils in Vape Cartridges

Like with CBD tinctures there are three main types of CBD oils in our collection:

Full-Spectrum CBD: These contain all the cannabinoids and terpenes, including THC, found in the original bud, which enhance the effects of CBD through the Entourage Effect.

Broad-Spectrum CBD: This type is almost identical to full-spectrum CBD, but with one important difference: no detectable THC. This still provides the Entourage Effect, but without the help from THC.

CBD Isolate: Isolates contain nothing but pure CBD. There is no influence from other cannabinoids or terpenes.

How to Choose the Perfect CBD Vape Cartridges For You

Not every cart labeled "full spectrum" actually is one. A lot of what's sold under that label is CBD isolate or distillate with a few terpenes added back it'll deliver CBD, but you lose the entourage effect that's the whole reason to choose full spectrum in the first place.

Here's what actually matters when you're choosing one.

Start with the extract. Real full spectrum means the oil came from the whole hemp plant with the natural cannabinoid and terpene profile intact not stripped down and rebuilt. The Certificate of Analysis tells you which one you're looking at. A genuine full spectrum COA shows a range of minor cannabinoids CBG, CBC, CBN, trace Ξ”9-THC within the legal limit.

Our carts are built for that full cannabinoid stack, not a CBD dump. Take our Granddaddy Purple cart as the example. The batch COA tests at 48.67% total cannabinoids by weight 362.80 mg of CBD alongside 62.46 mg CBC, 33.94 mg CBN, 18.67 mg CBG, and 2.25 mg Ξ”9-THC for a total of 486.73 mg of cannabinoids per cartridge. Total THC comes in at 0.225%, well under the 0.3% federal limit defined under P.L. 119-37. That's the profile only whole-plant extraction produces. Isolate reblends can't get there.

Check the hardware. A ceramic heating coil paired with a glass tank vaporizes hemp oil cleanly at the right temperature and doesn't react with the terpenes. Cheap wick coils scorch the oil and degrade the cannabinoids. Plastic tanks leach and dull the flavor. Every JustKana cart is built with a ceramic coil and a glass tank for this reason no plastic touches the oil.

On dosing. With a real full spectrum cart, strength on the label matters less than most people think the entourage effect does a lot of the work. If you're new to vaping CBD, one to two draws is a starting dose. Wait fifteen minutes before going further. Many customers find a well-made full spectrum cart feels different from anything they've tried: calmer, more grounded, less flat. If your last cart didn't deliver that, the extract was probably the problem not the strength.

CBD vape carts and CBD oil cartridges are the same product the terms are used interchangeably. Don't confuse either with a CBD tincture, though. Cartridges are made for inhalation, not oral use. Our CBD oil cartridges contain hemp extract and natural terpenes only no PG, PEG, VG, MCT, or vitamin E acetate. Nothing added to thin, stretch, or cut the oil.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are CBD carts?

CBD carts (short for cartridges) are pre-filled containers of concentrated CBD oil designed to be used with a vape battery. When attached to a compatible pen, the cartridge heats the oil into vapor for inhalation. CBD carts offer fast-acting relief and are one of the most popular and discreet ways to consume cannabidiol.

How do CBD carts work?

CBD carts work by heating CBD oil with a small built-in coil inside the cartridge. Once heated, the oil turns into vapor, which is then inhaled. The vaporized CBD is absorbed through the lungs into the bloodstream, offering almost immediate effects compared to edibles or tinctures.

Do CBD carts get you high?

No. CBD carts will not get you high. Unlike THC, cannabidiol (CBD) is non-psychoactive. Our CBD carts contain less than 0.3% THC or none at all (depending on the spectrum you choose), so you can enjoy calming and therapeutic effects without intoxication.

What’s the difference between full-spectrum, broad-spectrum, and isolate CBD carts?

  • Full-Spectrum CBD Carts: Contain all cannabinoids found in the hemp plant, including trace THC (<0.3%), which enhances effects through the Entourage Effect.
  • Broad-Spectrum CBD Carts: Contain all cannabinoids except THC β€” ideal for users who want the entourage benefits without THC.
  • CBD Isolate Carts: Contain only pure CBD with no other cannabinoids or terpenes β€” a great option for those sensitive to other compounds.

Are CBD carts legal?

Yes. As long as the CBD is derived from hemp. As federal and state hemp enforcement shifts toward β€œtotal THC (including THCA)” and per-container thresholds, the standard decarboxylation calculation commonly used in lab reporting is:

Total THC = (THCA Γ— 0.877) + Ξ”9-THC

How long does it take for CBD carts to work?

Effects from CBD carts can be felt within minutes sometimes seconds of inhalation. This makes vaping one of the fastest ways to experience the benefits of CBD, compared to edibles or capsules, which can take 30–60 minutes.

How long does a CBD cart last?

A 1-gram CBD cart typically delivers about 200–300 puffs depending on usage. Light users may find a cart lasts over a week or more, while frequent users may go through one in a few days. Your dosage habits and puff length will affect how long it lasts.

Are CBD vape carts safe?

Yes β€” when purchased from reputable brands like JustKana. All our CBD carts are:

  • Free from fillers like PG, VG, or MCT
  • Made with USA-grown hemp
  • Third-party lab tested for potency and purity

Avoid carts from unverified or gas station-type sellers, which may contain harmful additives.

How do I use a CBD cart?

  1. Attach the cartridge to a compatible 510-thread battery
  2. Turn on the pen (if applicable)
  3. Inhale gently from the mouthpiece
  4. Start slow β€” 1–2 puffs is plenty for beginners
  5. Wait 15–30 minutes to assess effects before increasing

What does a CBD cart feel like?

CBD carts provide a calming, relaxing sensation. Users often report reduced stress, body tension relief, clearer thinking, or improved mood. There is no head high or intoxication, but many feel mentally and physically balanced after just a few puffs.

Do CBD carts show up on a drug test?

Pure CBD should not trigger a positive drug test. However, full-spectrum CBD carts contain trace THC, which can accumulate in the body over time. If you're subject to testing, we recommend using broad-spectrum or isolate carts to avoid risk.

Can I travel with CBD carts?

Domestically, yes but be cautious:

  • Carry documentation or lab results if flying
  • Do not travel internationally with CBD, as laws vary drastically

How do I store CBD vape cartridges?

Store CBD carts:

  • Upright (to prevent leaks)
  • In a cool, dark place
  • Away from direct sunlight and heat

Avoid keeping them in hot cars or pockets for extended periods.

How do I know if a CBD cart is high quality?

Look for:

  • Lab results (COAs) from third-party labs
  • Clear oil (not dark or cloudy)
  • No artificial flavorings or fillers
  • Reviews and transparency from the brand

At JustKana, all of our CBD carts are lab tested, filler-free, and loaded with terpenes for clean, effective vaping.
